What is PBIS?
How does your child's behavior tracker actually work?
What is Colt Cash?
Through the Parish-Wide Negotiated Settlement every school is required to have a (PBIS) Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports System in place backed with real data. It is designed to reward students for positive behavior.
Every 6 weeks your child has a possibility of receiving rewards that are directly tied to their behavior in class and out of class.
Every teacher has an electronic behavior tracker that is on their computer which will be turned in every 6 weeks to validate behavior which is connected to our 'Colt Cash' Token System.
On the tracker every child receives a '1' for the corresponding day, which is the equivalent of 100%. If the child breaks a classroom rule for that day the teacher changes the '1' to a '0'. That will result in the student's 100% to be reduced. There is no reduction on the tracker for absences. Click for tracker example.
Throughout the year, S.J. Welsh's PBIS team will set up reward days (sports day, hat & socks day etc...) assemblies, and other various reward days for the students. For each student to participate they must have NO Discipline Office Referrals.
Also, at the end of every 6 weeks if a student has 100% on their tracker they will receive $4 in Colt Cash for that class. If the student receives one or two '0s' on their tracker they receive $2 in Colt Cash for that class. More than two '0s' = no cash. So, if a student has 6 classes (excluding P.E.) and they are perfect, 100% behavior in all of them , they will receive $24 (6 classes x $4). Every student has the opportunity to receive Colt Cash which can be used in the Colt Store to buy various products, which will be opened every 2 six weeks (Opened 3 times the entire year).
Of course the goal of our behavior is not just for the classroom. When a student is randomly caught being positive (example: picking up some trash without being told to do so, etc...) they have the possibility of receiving Colt Cash.
For the Colt Store to be successful, we have to purchase items (candy, games, etc...) if you have any questions, would like to donate items, or help with financing, please email or call Julian Guillory. email: Julian.Guillory@cpsb.org; phone: 217-4410 ext. 1227.
Thank you for your support!
